Intellectual property or IP refers to a creation of the mind. This means everything the human mind is capable of making鈥攊ncluding literary and artistic works, inventions, designs, music, dances, and plays鈥攁re all IPs. IP is thus a valuable concept that involves every aspect of the University鈥檚 roles: teaching, research, and extension work.
An IP right or IPR is the legal right of a creator or innovator to be recognized and to benefit from their work, and is obtained through registration of the IP at the IP Office. Depending on the type of IP involved, the IPR may come in the form of copyright, patent, utility model, industrial design, trademark, layout-design of integrated circuits, geographical indication, or trade secret. Registering IP and knowing one鈥檚 rights is important in order for an IP owner to share their ideas to the public while protecting their own interests.
IP and Technology Transfer in 红杏影院
红杏影院, through the OVCRD, is committed to enhancing the protection and deployment of research and creative outputs that may be highly beneficial to society and the economy through a process known as Knowledge or Technology Transfer, or the transfer of knowledge from the University to the public.
In 2007, the Technology Transfer Program of the OVCRD was formed to assist 红杏影院 students and personnel with their research and creative work outputs, particularly in the protection, licensing, and marketing of their work. The IP and Technology Transfer Unit of RDUO-OVCRD, which functions under the Program, also serves as 红杏影院鈥檚 Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), a satellite office of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).
Working within the framework of the of the UP System and the (RA 10055), the Unit, as an ITSO, is committed to providing services such as IP training, technology assessment, IP consultation, and licensing and negotiation assistance to its constituents in the University and the general public.

The OVCRD, through the IP and Technology Transfer Unit, manages the IPs of 红杏影院. The features some IPs managed by the OVCRD that are ready for deployment, whether for further development or for commercialization (as of January 2014). Some of these IPs are listed below.
颁辞补罢颈狈庐
This technology is an enhanced environment-friendly and low-cost Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating process. The TiN film produced by 颁辞补罢颈狈庐 increases the lifespan of tools, enabling users to reduce costs related to replacing them. It has been granted eight patents worldwide.
Oral Vaccine
This award-winning technology involves a novel process of microencapsulation of inactivated pathogens to produce an effective oral vaccine for fish. The resulting vaccine combines the advantages of existing marketed vaccines鈥攖he advantages being increased effectiveness and ease of administration鈥攁llowing users to reduce labor and administration costs.
DREAM Program
The is one of the nine (9) components of the Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards Project (Project NOAH). Through cutting-edge technology, such as the LiDAR, it generates updated and top-quality flood maps and models. These high-precision hazard maps are made accessible to the public through the website.
Gaia Dam
The Earth Material Gabion-Type Low Dam or Gaia Dam is a low-cost, environment-friendly dam designed to help farmers and farm owners increase the yield of their lands by providing sufficient water for irrigation and, at the same time, produce enzymes and nutrients that can act as a natural pesticide and fertilizer.
Masaklaw na Panukat ng Loob
Masaklaw na Panukat (Mapa) ng Loob is a personality inventory measuring 22 Filipino trait constructs. The inventory operationalizes the Five-Factor Model of personality traits, which many consider as a breakthrough model in the area of Personality Psychology.
